Where is the GUI?

Hi, I was wondering, where are the files that control the gui. I wanted to make some modifications, but I don't know where to do it.

totally agreed but i thing it's not going to be a good thing

Why?

well as @asdf23 said it's challenging to make a whole OS invulnerable to all the known security issues we see nowadays I personally don't know a lot about web security and performance improvement but i also had lots of issues with some websites for example all the websites that have lots of animations may be my laptop is the reason so i don't think it'll work for everyone

Here's why it's a challenge... I can probably create a 100,000 line CSS awesome looking theme that also replaces the login/password textbox of one app with another rather easily. Or I could do this in JavaScript, or HTML. Any and every tiny thing is suspect.

HTML: structure CSS: visual style Javascript: logic

They were created with that purpose, and it's the most simple, minimal and optimal solution. Using them for anything else, although possible, can only lead to problems.

Firefox OS was exactly this and it was pretty awesome. Supposedly it went off to become a TV OS.

The history and culture of HTML, CSS, JavaScript is riddled with ads and crapware so it's a big challenge to produce anything that wouldn't be incredibly vulnerable.

i don't see a problem in having a gui with html, css and js - there is support for low level stuff like interacting with the filesystem and such.

It would be neat to have a web inspired GUI, ie using HTML, CSS and JS to do it

totally agreed but i thing it's not going to be a good thing

Let's build a beta

Now that almost all the tasks for the alpha are complete, I think it's time to start thinking and discussing where to work now:

  • showstopper Update version of Node.js (fix v8 issue)
  • UIs
    • blessed correctly working by default
      • NodeOS font
    • HTML renderer (Chromium Embedded Framework)
  • OS flavours
    • mainframe
    • workstation
  • alternative kernels
    • FreeBSD
    • NetBSD
    • runtime.js
  • alternative platforms
    • ARM (raspberry pi)
    • MIPS
    • PowerPC
  • splitted modules for each layer
  • tests for all packages
  • containers for each user
  • network reverse proxy (only http/ws?)
  • dhcp client written in Node.js (including ability to set ip/rotue/netmask)
  • npkg update Intended to use ndm
  • EFI support

Any other idea? :-)
