I would love to contribute. . . #177

Hi!

I'm a third-year university student majoring in neuroscience with a focus on the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases. I've recently begun teaching myself python and have gotten fairly comfortable with it - and I would love to contribute to datasciencemasters as it looks like something I would be interested working on!

Only issue is, I've never contributed to anything on github - I know enough git to help myself, but am a fair beginner outside of that. Could someone point me in the right direction as to a) what needs work and b) in what manner?

General advice is also more than welcome!

Cheers =)

I'm thinking so too; the most recent changes were a couple years ago. Even so, a lot of the materials should still be useful - Python, relevant math/statistics, etc. Regarding GitHub (a world in itself!) the platform itself offers some helpful training; see https://lab.github.com/ and https://help.github.com/en/github/getting-started-with-github/git-and-github-learning-resources. Also https://towardsdatascience.com/introduction-to-github-for-data-scientists-2cf8b9b25fba. From there you could also check out kaggle.com--they have interesting training courses, as well as some medically oriented competitions. Best wishes--

I would love to also contribute to Open Source in whatever way possible. Can someone point me to something a Data Scientist (not web developer) can do please?
